NLNG Trains 331 New Graduates to Boost National Workforce Capacity

The Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has successfully graduated 331 trainees from its vocational and technical training programmes, reaffirming its commitment to building Nigeria’s future workforce and strengthening human capital development across the country.

The graduation ceremony, held at the company’s Bonny Island facility, brought together industry leaders, community representatives, and stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of the trainees who completed intensive training across various technical and practical fields.

According to NLNG, the programme is designed to equip young Nigerians especially those from host communities with industry-relevant skills that enable them to secure meaningful employment, contribute to nation-building, and participate effectively in the country’s evolving energy sector.

A Strategic Investment in Skills and Economic Growth

NLNG explained that the training initiative is part of its commitment to sustainable development and local capacity building.
The 331 graduates were trained in specialized disciplines including:

  • Welding and fabrication
  • Electrical installation
  • Mechanical fitting
  • Process operations
  • ICT and digital skills
  • Health, safety, and environment (HSE)
  • Instrumentation and maintenance

The company noted that these skills are in high demand both within Nigeria’s energy industry and the wider global workforce.

Leadership Commends the Trainees

During the ceremony, NLNG’s management praised the resilience, discipline, and performance of the trainees.

They emphasized that human capital remains one of Nigeria’s strongest assets and that initiatives like this play a crucial role in bridging skill gaps, stimulating local employment, and improving productivity.

The company also encouraged the graduates to embrace lifelong learning, professionalism, and innovation as they step into their respective careers.

Boosting Local Communities

A significant portion of the trainees come from NLNG’s host communities in Bonny Kingdom and surrounding areas. Community leaders expressed appreciation for the company’s continued investment in youth development, describing the programme as a “transformative intervention” that helps reduce unemployment and empowers families.

Parents and guardians of the graduates also applauded NLNG for providing world-class training facilities and industry-recognized certification that enhances the employability of the trainees.

A Pathway to Employment

NLNG revealed that many beneficiaries of previous training cycles have secured jobs in oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, and technology sectors.
The company expects this new batch of graduates to follow the same path, contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic advancement.

Looking Ahead

The graduation of 331 new trainees highlights NLNG’s expanding role in Nigeria’s human capital development agenda. As the company continues to invest in skill acquisition and youth empowerment, it aims to support economic diversification, reduce unemployment, and strengthen the nation’s competitiveness in global markets.

With this milestone, NLNG has once again positioned itself as a major catalyst for sustainable development and a key supporter of Nigeria’s future workforce.
