Nigerian Performing Instrumentalists Unite For Progress, Impact
The ever-dynamic music industry is poised for transformation and growth. Different players in the sector are positioning themselves to reap the benefits of the creative economy.
One of the players, the Nigeria Performing Musical Instrumentalists Association (NIPMIA), is forging out to achieve professional excellence.
According to its pioneer chairman, James John, NIPMIA is made up of musicians who perform live and notably with an instrument – sax, trumpets, trombone, guitar, percussion- to unite, protect, empower, and professionalise performing instrumentalists across Nigeria, giving them a strong collective voice, better welfare, and structured opportunities for growth in the music industry.
”We are a new but fast-growing association. Right now, our priority is building a strong structure, legal foundation, and national spread. We are already in discussions with respected and experienced instrumentalists, and as NIPMIA grows, more established and well-known professionals will naturally come on board. Our goal is not just to have big names, but to build a strong system that serves every instrumentalist,” he said.
Presently, NIPMIA has officials, namely: Afroblackish, the Caretaker chairman – Mr James John, Vice chairman – Mr Jegede Olusola, Secretary – Mr Olabode Adegboyega, Treasurer – Mr Ishola Michael, and PRO – Mr Omololu Olarinoye.
An official Inauguration of the association is planned for the near future.
