‘Short Man’, Seun Kuti Fires Back After Wizkid’s Insults Over Fela Comparisons
Seun Kuti, son of late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has responded to a series of insults directed at him by Grammy Award-winning singer Wizkid, following a heated online exchange over comparisons between the latter and the late music icon.
In response, Seun adopted a measured and sarcastic tone.
Sharing a screenshot of Wizkid’s post on Instagram, he captioned it, “Just be yourself, short man. You are also great.”
The tension began last week after Seun criticised Wizkid’s fanbase, known as Wizkid FC, a for what he described as disrespectful comparisons between the Ojuelegba hitmaker and his father.
According to Seun, such narratives diminished late Fela’s enduring cultural and political legacy.
The disagreement escalated on Tuesday evening when Wizkid reacted via his Instagram Stories, posting a string of insulting remarks aimed at Seun and declaring himself greater than his father – the late Afrobeat legend.
“@bigbirdkuti I’m Big Wiz everyday bigger than your papa!! Wetin u one do fool? Hungry bastard,” Wizkid wrote.
He continued the attack on X (formerly Twitter), contrasting Fela’s activism with Seun’s public stance. “Fela fight for freedom this fool dey fight for fc! Oloshi omo ale!” the singer added.
