Experience 2025: Lagos Extends Train Operations to Ease Night Movement
Lagos State Government has announced an extension of rail service hours ahead of The Experience 2025, Africa’s largest gospel music concert, to ensure smooth movement for tens of thousands of worshippers expected at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS). The move is aimed at reducing traffic congestion, improving safety, and supporting late-night commuters during the all-night event.
The Experience, hosted by Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock, is known for drawing massive local and international crowds. With attendees often leaving the venue in the early hours of the morning, transportation has remained one of the biggest challenges each year. Lagos authorities say this extension is part of a broader plan to improve crowd management and enhance urban mobility for major events in the state.
Extended Train Schedule for The Experience 2025
According to the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), rail operations on both the Blue Line and Red Line corridors will run later into the night on the event day. This will allow participants to move conveniently from the venue back to major parts of the city, including Marina, Mile 2, Orile, Ikeja, Yaba and Agbado.
The extended service is expected to:
-
Reduce pressure on road transport
-
Minimize long queues and stranded passengers
-
Provide a safer and more reliable travel option after midnight
-
Support the state’s goal of promoting rail as a primary mode of transportation
LAMATA encouraged passengers to use their Cowry Cards and arrive early at stations to avoid last-minute rush.
Why the Extension Matters
Lagos experiences one of the busiest nightlife movements during The Experience due to the concert’s global appeal. Traffic gridlock around the Island is also common, with many attendees leaving the venue simultaneously.
By extending train operation hours, the government hopes to reduce:
-
Road traffic congestion
-
Cost of transportation
-
Commuter stress
-
Safety risks associated with late-night travel
This move is also seen as part of the administration’s plan to encourage more residents to embrace the city’s expanding rail network.
What Attendees Should Know
Participants attending The Experience 2025 are advised to:
-
Plan their route early
-
Use rail services where possible
-
Carry their Cowry Card for seamless train access
-
Follow station instructions and security guidelines
-
Avoid overcrowded bus parks after the event
The Lagos State Government also confirmed that security agencies and emergency teams will be deployed across major transport hubs to ensure smooth movement.
A Boost for Lagos’ Urban Mobility Vision
The extension of rail service hours underscores Lagos’ commitment to modernizing its transportation system, especially during high-volume events. With more rail expansions underway, the state aims to gradually reduce heavy dependence on road travel.
As thousands gather to worship, sing, and celebrate at The Experience 2025, the improved transport plan is expected to deliver a safer, stress-free commute for all attendees.
